3D Rooftop PV Modelling with SketchUp
Turn site information into a clear, realistic solar layout that supports engineering, self-consumption analysis and client presentations.

Dates
5 – 8 Oct 2026
Duration
12 hours
Delivery
Online
Level
Intermediate
Participants learn a repeatable SketchUp workflow for modelling buildings, roof constraints, module zones, access paths and the visual context of a rooftop photovoltaic project.
Roof configurations
The practical exercises cover mono-pitch and dual-pitch metal roofs, flat roofs, East–West layouts and the geometric checks needed before detailed electrical design.
From model to decision
The final model is structured to communicate design assumptions, improve commercial presentations and support a transparent discussion of production and self-consumption.
Learning outcomes
- Build accurate 3D building and roof geometry.
- Place PV modules while respecting usable areas and access constraints.
- Compare pitched-roof and East–West flat-roof configurations.
- Prepare clear project views for technical and commercial use.
